I think Peter is just so glad that Olivia is opening up to him (finally) and they’re sleeping together and she’s happy; that he believes she trusts him enough now to rely on him and will show fear in front of him now. It’s such a big thing between them, where he always told her, she could come to him if she was scared, that this reaction doesn’t raise a red flag with him.
He believes this is Olivia, and of course she would be rattled. And they have now reached the point where she won’t walk away and freak out quietly when she’s alone, but she’ll let him hold her. Why would this be suspicious to him?
That single hand placement (and the fact that he barreled down the hall and bear-hugged her,) says a lot about Peter.OH GOSHHHHHH ! i can’t i just can’t :((((
I agree, I think he feels that Olivia finally took some of the stuff he said to her to heart. I think Peter has the overwhelming need to be the knight in shining armor to Olivia, but the real Olivia would not seek that.
Finally a voice of reason, thank you! I hope the writers don’t gloss over the fact that Peter is being physically and mentally abused. All this hate towards Peter, the victim in this situation, is seriously disturbing.
THANK YOU. And it’s not even about her being scared, it’s about him being scared. He just watched as the woman he loves (assumedly) fought off and killed a shapeshifter by herself. Even though we know that’s not what actually happened, he doesn’t. He was scared for her because he cares about her. If I witnessed someone I cared about and loved in that kind of danger, the first thing I would do when I saw him/her would be to grab on and never let go. I think that hug was more of a reassurance for him that she was okay. It really pains me to watch this, because all I can think of is how devastated and screwed up Peter is going to be after this all comes out. He’s not going to be able to trust himself anymore.
I agree with Lauren here. This was more for Peter’s benefit. He hugged her, and yeah Olivia probably wouldn’t have let him do that but the relationship has changed in Peter’s eyes and progressed to something more. We have seen him worry about her before, but now he feels like he can let it show even more. The reveal is going to be devastating for them both and the angst to follow on both sides is gonna have us crying like babies.
